“Why is it that I have no interest in watching anything in my Netflix queue anymore?” Rosa said as she scrolled through the options on the television screen. “They all seemed so interesting when I clicked them initially, but now I’m just not interested.”

Chris joined her on the sofa with a bowl of popcorn. “Well, you’re the one who says we have to have a weekly movie night, so you’d better pick something before I have to pick something from my queue.”

“We’re not watching another cop movie,” said Rosa.

“Forgive me for wanting to watch something with a little justice,” Chris said, stuffing some popcorn into his mouth.

Rosa grabbed a handful of popcorn and continued scrolling through the movie choices. It had been a few months since Angie’s death, and Rosa made sure that she and her brother at least had a movie night get together once a week. Although she texted him daily, she felt that Chris needed the human connection.

Chris’ attorney had filed lawsuits against Angie’s employer and the owner of the property, citing their responsibility for her wrongful death at work. In the meantime, Chris just had to wait, and Rosa wanted to make sure she was as supportive as possible.

“So what’s it going to be?” Chris asked.

“I’m leaning toward a comedy,” Rosa replied.

“Well, I hope you pick one before I finish the popcorn.” When his telephone rang, Chris added, “There you go. You get an extra minute to decide.”

Chris put the bowl of popcorn on the coffee table and grabbed his phone. As he listened to the person on the other end of the line, Chris stood up and started pacing. Rosa stopped scrolling through movie choices and watched her brother. The look on his face told her it was important.

When he hung up the phone, she immediately asked, “So what was that about?”

Chris sat on the edge of the couch. “They got him,” he said.

“Got who?”

“That was Detective Nance,” Chris said, momentarily staring off into space.

“What did he say?”

“He said that they arrested someone trying to sell Angie’s ring at a pawn shop.”

“Is it the guy?” Rosa asked.

“They think so. He matched the description of one of the thieves from the security camera videos.”

“How did they know it was her ring?”

“The Japanese symbols,” he said. “Remember? We got engaged in Japan so when we had the rings made up, I had symbols inscribed inside.”

“Love for life,” Rosa said as she remembered the inscription.

Chris hung his head a bit. “Yeah,” he said. “It’s a pretty unique ring so I made sure to put that in the police report after the incident. I never imagined it would actually be found.”

“So what happens now?” Rosa asked.

“Well, more waiting, I guess,” Chris said, “but at least now I know that I’m waiting for something. At least now I know Angie has a chance at justice.”

“Now you’re really going to want to watch a cop movie, aren’t you?”

Chris slid down onto the couch and grabbed the remote control from her. “I don’t think we have a choice, do we?”
